Leeds Takes a Bite of the Big Apple

Leeds-based airline Jet2 has announced that it will launch the first ever transatlantic service from Leeds-Bradford Airport to the Big Apple’s Newark Airport. Jet2 said that they decided to offer this service after listening to feedback from their customers.

The Leeds-based airline is now offering return flights to New York from just £579.98 including taxes, which is great news for business travellers in the region. However, it also plans to offer special Christmas shopping breaks between November and December this year. These four-day breaks cost from just £699 and include three nights hotel accommodation, as well as all taxes and charges. There are a range of hotels on offer, so travellers can choose from a variety of three, four and even five-star hotels in the city.

Richard Bodin, who is Managing Director of Jet2holidays.com, said that the launch of their New York route was an important move for the company. He said: "This is an important announcement for us. We knew this destination was one that our customers have been calling for and we are proud and thrilled to be able to be the first holiday company in the region to offer this great deal to such an amazing city."

Mr Bodin then went on to explain that Jet2’s decision to offer Christmas shopping breaks was due to customer feedback. He said: "We are launching with Christmas shopping breaks as our research suggested this was the one thing most people tend to recommend to friends as a must-do first experience, and something they tend to repeat."

Mr Bodin also said that the company plan to offer a handful of flights to begin with, although more will added if the route proves successful. He said: "We are launching, initially, with four departures - however, if these are successful and in high enough demand we will add more to the programme."

The Jet2 flights to Newark Airport will be outbound only, so New Yorkers will not be able to take advantage of the new Leeds-Bradford – New York service. Travellers who are interested in flying on this new route are advised book early to avoid disappointment.
